I don’t usually get caught by surprise by local authors, but Leonardo Oyola’s novel, Kryptonita, did the trick for me. Told from the perspective of a faux-doctor who, whilst doing the night shift in a public hospital from one of the roughest areas of Buenos Aires, is forced to tend to a wounded gangleader (Nafta Super) that needs urgent treatment.
When the stories of the gangmembers and their superpowered leader are being told, the immediate nods to the well known Superman comic book stories start being unravelled in front of our eyes. A well told tale, deserves a read in the original Buenos Aires lingo – hopefully will be translated to English soon enough! More exciting than the new Hollywood Superman movie…

Vía Are we there yet?
Thank you very much, my friend.
